Air Blower

Hot Tubs – Would you an Air Blower
Whilst hydro therapy and water massage is excellent it can also be a very good idea to have a separate air blower for reasons that I will out line below.
Not only will it also be useful as an additional massage treatment as it bubbles and pampers the water all around you but it is said by the medical profession that the use of an air blower will actually reduce varicose veins.
When one gently submerges ones legs and body into warm water, the blood, which is a fluid of a similar weight to water, will tend to become more or less equal in weight.
This means that the pressure inside ones legs is greatly reduced and the pulling effects of gravity on ones body are much reduced. The effect of this is simply that the blood flow is increased and with that comes an increased flow of nutrients.
It has been said that it is similar to having fluffy feather pillows containing warm water and having these rolled around your torso, hips and legs.
I am told that air blower therapy, was specifically designed by doctors to help increase the blood circulation in veins that are contained in the skin, legs and feet.
A Hot Tub with a separate air blower does considerably help to reduce varicose veins.
I know many users of Hot Tubs where their varicose veins have much reduced after they have started using the air blower on their Jacuzzi.
However many Hot Tubs do not come with an air blower and when comparing models this is something to take into account as an Air blower will add to the cost.
This takes us on to how a Hot Tub Spa is made as some are fully foamed which in my view is an out of date form of construction.
The Shell can be foamed but not the contents of the whole spa cabinet. If the whole interior cabinet is foamed then it is very hard to fix or find a leak should one occur. This is known as a fully foamed spa.
In many fully foamed spas you often find that they do not offer separate air blowers and of course it is not just one air blower we are talking about as the air blower is piped to some 10 to 20 or more “pepper pot” style outlet Jets involving some intricate pipe work.
One reason is that with a fully foamed spa the space to position the air blower may be limited due to the foam and yet another is to do with the fact that this out dated design means that only cold air from the outside of the spa is used.
Hot Tubs that are not fully foamed are able to draw the air from inside the Jacuzzi cabinet thereby re-using the mechanical heat already generated by the pumps and related equipment.
The final and I guess clinching reason for many manufacturers is simply that of cost. By not having an air blower they can make large savings therby making more profit by offering less features.
As I have outlined above it is not just a simple question of an air blower as you do have to take into account all that intricate pipe work to the pepper pot outlets. So if you are comparing a Hot Tub with an Air Blower and one with out the one without will have cost the manufacturer considerably less to produce.
Also one can draw the conclusion that running an air blower in a fully foamed spa will destroy what ever little thermal efficiency they have. This is simply as all of the air has to be drawn in from the outside of the Hot Tub cabinet and this is of course colder than the water temperature in the Hot Tub.
In the winter season, these outdated designs can make the water temperature fall so that the heater is simply unable to keep up.
In the more modern designed Hot Tubs that are not fully foamed the air pump is located within an insulated area so that the mechanical heat generated from the jet pumps is naturally warming the air.
In these circumstances some times when you use the air blower you lose very little if any heat. The air coming in is usually at or close to the same temperature or even sometimes slightly warmer than the water in the Hot Tub. . Obviously one cannot continue to always draw warm air as after a little while the air temperature inside the Hot Tub cabinet will start to drop.
After a reasonable time span perhaps 15 to 20 minutes, the air will start to turn cold, but by then of course you would have stopped using the air blower.
So when you as the potential customer ask the salesman “What is the purpose of an air blower?” you will probably be better informed than the sales person.
