Is it true that 5 months infant isn’t safe to travel by air plane bcause it’ll cause him deaf or ear infection?

My parents are worries that my 5 months baby boy will deaf or having hearing problem or ear infections if he traveling by air plane. We plan to have travel 2 hours by plane next month.

No, it’s not true. If your baby is in good health, he should have no ear problems.

If he has an ear infection already, or a cold, flu, allergies, etc., his ears might block in the airplane, which can be extremely painful. In very rare cases, an ear block can rupture an eardrum. That won’t make him deaf but it can cause temporary hearing impairment (and even more rarely, permanent impairment). For this reason, he shouldn’t fly if he’s sick. The same risk applies to adults, too.

The risk of infection is no greater than it would be in any other enclosed space: train, bus, restaurant, elevator, etc. If anything, it’s slightly lower, since airliners are ventilated with outside air (germ-free) and recirculated air that goes through hospital-grade filters.
