Blowing Blower

Our blower on the furnace seems loud, but is working properly and cool air is blowing out.?
My husband has checked all the things he can think of – motor is not seized and not getting hot, connections are all good, squirrel cage is working properly, but it is just louder than usual. Compressor outside seems to be working fine. He wants to just replace the blower and see if that works to get rid of the noise. However, a new blower is around $350 – anyone have any other ideas of what could be causing this???
Have you tried cleaning it? Those vanes are probably pretty dirty by now. Remove it, take it in the back yard, and clean it with 409, a good brush, and the garden hose. Be sure to oil all of the bearings after it dries. Not only will this probably get rid of the noise, but you will have saved a chunk of change.
