Decorator’s Guide To Decorating A Bathroom With Inspiration From The Great Outdoors

When you are making over your bathroom you can build a beautiful space by using the great outdoors as inspiration. By keeping the space natural, you can mix all of the functions of the room into a single seamless design. You can produce any type of aesthetic that you want by incorporating elements of nature in the area. There is an abundance of ways to pull nature into the space, and here are some ideas to try.

Seashore
All people love the beach, or at least they love the idea of the beach. To create a beach feel in your bathroom space, you can start by painting your walls a light, neutral color. The color can have a blue, gray, or brown undertone; all of these colors work with this motif. You can add handmade metal wall art or a wallpaper border to your room, or you may even wish to stencil a border around your space in a seashell or seagull pattern.

You may also have enough detail that you are including in your accessories that dictates blank walls for your space. You can blend your towel rack with your walls, or you can give them a little character with a seashell pattern. You can display striped towels to remind you of beach towels and cabanas. Adding a wicker or canvas basket with extra rolled towels will continue the cabana aesthetic. You can add metal wall artwork in blues and greens, and you can trim the room in crisp white. Add seashell framed mirrors and clear glass containers full of colorful seashells to complete the look of your seaside bathroom.

Hunting Lodge
While a lodge look is not actually bringing the outside in, it adds a certain rustic aesthetic to your bathroom space. This theme is perfect for a man’s bathroom, and looks fabulous in dark colors like hunter green. While you do not want to paint all of the walls such a dark color, you can choose a focal wall to paint a deep, forest green. You may add a chair rail to the space and just paint the lower half of the wall in the forest green color. You may also prefer a neutral background for your lodge bathroom, and then you can use your bold color in the furnishings like the shower curtain, bathmat and towels. Add rustic wood accents and wooden pegs to use for towel holders. Then add some wildlife inspired artwork and even a basket of old pine cones, and your rustic lodge bathroom is complete.

Garden
For a more romantic touch to the bathroom, you can select a garden-inspired theme. Whether that simply translates into floral patterns or creating the actual visual of a garden is your choice. You can go for neutral colors for the wall either in shades of beige, or you may like pastel neutrals with a hint of green, pink, or yellow. After choosing your wall color, you can pick up on the undertone of your paint color with your accessories. Of course you can splash a floral pattern through your shower curtain, or you may simply prefer to continue a pastel theme, to create a more organic spa type of feeling in your room. Then you can add a large vase of freshly cut flowers to your room. You can complete this room with crisp, white trim and some polished contemporary metal wall hangings, and your garden bath is ready to pamper.
