How do i work an electric air pump for bike/car tyres?

iv plugged my Airman pump (http://www.spartansports.com.au/airman/index.htm) into th car lighter and switched the ignition. iv connected to my bike tyres. but when i press the button nothing happens!

The first thing would be to check and see if you have power at the lighter by using the cigarette lighter that came with the car, if you don’t have power there check the fuses in the car and make sure they’re alright.. Next if your pump has a fuse or a reset switch try that and if that doesn’t work you may have a bad switch on the compressor or your 12 volt power cord could be bad. If everything in the car works and you have purchased the pump recently I’d take it back for an exchange or a refund. If by chance the pump switch is bad they can be replaced if you’re so inclined to do so.
