Test Driving Used Cars
You should always take a used car for a test drive before you buy it so that you can establish whether or not it is a good buy. Knowing what to do and not to do during a test drive is important so that you get the most from the experience. The following are tips on what you will need to do before you even take the car for a test drive.
- Avoid bringing your whole family along for the ride because this will only act as a distraction. Children will be excited at the prospect of a new car but you will need to put all your attention into driving the car and determining whether or not it is a good car. But there is no problem taking your partner along with you especially if he or she is going to be driving the car as well as you.
- Get as long as possible for your test drive. A half an hour is probably long enough to get a good idea about the car.
- Choose a route that is going to put the car through its paces; aim for hills and traffic.
- Remember to turn on all the fans, heaters, air con etc in the car to make sure they are working. You should also check the functionality of all the doors and windows in the car.
- Make sure that you can easily adjust the steering wheel.
- You should make sure that you inspect the boot to see if it is big enough for your requirements. Take a moment to look around the car to try to ensure that there is nothing that looks as though major reapirs have been done to the car. Look for rust.
- All the lights and indicators should be checked too to make sure they are working correctly.
Above are just some of the things you should be doing prior to a test drive.
