Only markings on antique powder shotgun “Childs JR.” Ideas??? Need more info!!?

my great grandmother has a gun that is in two pieces that she says my great grandpa had since before they were married. it is a double barrel black powder shot gun. the only words on any of the gun is “Childs JR.” the only other thing that stands out is a brass deer on the base of one side of the gun. looking for info and cannot find anything. any other information anyone could tell me would be so appreciated!! thanks for any help!!

Never heard of your gun before. It is quite poss-able that it was made by a blacksmith/gun maker in the 1880′s or earlier at this time many guns and knives were made by the blacksmith between horse shoeing’s. Contact Dix Arms these people may be able to help you: if their still in business, Best of luck and do not shoot this gun, it could hurt the value of the piece.
