Things to do at Cyprus hotels

Cyprus offers plenty of attractions for visiting holidaymakers. No matter what you have in mind, whether it’s shopping, exploring historical sites or relaxing by the pool, you’ll easily find something to suit, while the many Cyprus hotels available will ensure you have a fun filled and comfortable stay.

Relaxation
Cyprus offers a number of beautiful beaches, including Phinikoudes Beach, one of the most famous on the island and the golden sand beach of Kapparis. A wide selection of the resorts in Cyprus can be found on the beach, meaning you have easy access to the sand and sea. Meanwhile, spa facilities can be found at many of the resorts ensuring plenty of opportunity for any stress to melt away.

Historical Sites
Cyprus’ history goes back a long way and as such the island has a good selection of ancient sites for culture lovers to explore, from its Tombs of the Kings to its UNESCO recognised Byzantine churches. In Paphos, you can also visit a medieval fort where an opera festival is held each summer. Head to the charming village of Choirokoitia to see the Neolithic settlement that is widely regarded as one of the best preserved sites in the eastern Mediterranean. The Cyprus museum in Nicosia hosts antiquities dating from the Neolithic to the Byzantine Age.

Get Sporty
If you are interested in sports and the outdoors, Cyprus has plenty of active options to keep you busy throughout your vacation. You can enjoy an underwater adventure when you go diving at one of the centres on the Akamas peninsula. Or if you want to snorkel or go sailing it’s quite possible you will be able to do this at your hotel, with many Cyprus hotels offering their own watersports facilities onsite. Your resort might also include tennis courts and host yoga or other fitness classes. The harbours of Latchi, Paphos, Limassol offer sailing instruction and boat rentals.

Shopping
For those interested in shopping, Cyprus offers good prices on some beautiful hand-crafted items. Buy the famous Savva pottery just outside Paphos or in the Foini village of the Troodos mountains. Handmade lace can also be found in many of the mountain settlements as well as in Lefkara near Larnaca. Another item unique to mountain villages are the hand woven rugs, try Phyti near Polis for good deals. Meanwhile, to tantalise your taste buds, purchase some of the delicious olive oil, olives and honey available locally.

Food and Drink
Many Cyprus hotels offer mouthwatering local foods and specialties. Some of the items you should try on your vacation are souvlaki, or pork kebabs, grilled octopus, tsipoora or sea bream and loukanika, a hearty locally-made sausage. Finish it all off with a sticky pastry and a Brandy Sour cocktail.
