Why you should shop treeless horse saddles

Treeless horse saddles are a fairly new item in the equestrian market.  These horse saddles are a hybrid of bareback riding meets a saddle.  The popularity of these saddles continues to increase as more riders experience the comfort of a treeless saddle for both themselves and their horses.

Treeless horse saddles are designed from lightweight materials, such as traditional leather, fiberglass and foam padding.  As a general rule, they are easier to handle than heavier saddles with a tree.  This is appealing for many riders, as they want a saddle that is manageable on long rides, or quick changes from horse to horse in the barn.

Treeless horse saddles also provide closer contact with your horse.  You aren’t separated and sitting “above” your horse, which allows contact almost the same as riding with no saddle.  This makes leg cues more effective, as well as anticipating your horse’s behavior.  It also creates a better core in the rider, as it requires a little more balance to move with the horse.

Treeless saddles are more flexible when riding a variety of horses.  Since there is no set  gullet width, you can easily move the saddle from one horse to the other without having to make extensive changes.  This time saver will make a treeless saddle the favorite in the barn for the rider constantly changing mounts.

If your horse is a hard to fit mount, treeless saddles are designed to mold to the horse.  If your horse has an unusually wide or narrow body, uneven shoulders or other saddle fitting challenges, treeless horse saddles eliminate the guess work.  The saddle will conform to the horse while not sacrificing the integrity of the riding experience.

Once riders use a treeless saddle, some say it takes a little time to adjust to the new experience.  After a few rides, though, most are hooked.  Those who have ridden in a close contact saddle, but want a Western saddle for trail rides or pleasure, may find that treeless saddles are a perfect compromise.  Western riders who want closer contact with their horse will enjoy the benefits of riding treeless.  Treeless saddles are also available in English saddles.

Treeless saddles are more comfortable for your horse.  It will allow more freedom of movement, ultimately creating better performance.  Whether your horse is in good condition or not, a treeless saddle actually allows even weight distribution for your horse.  This allows a full extension of your horse shoulders, eliminating future problems with their spine – and maybe saving money on a horse chiropractor.

When considering treeless horse saddles, keep in mind they are better for your horse, easy to fit, and will help you become a better rider.  With all this information, why would you want to try any other type of saddle?
