how do I restore a cast iron fire surround?

I have removed the paint from a plain cast iron fire surround and mantlepiece and would like to know what to do next. It is matt black. HOw can I polish it to give a shine? What are the best products to use?

Look for “Liberon” iron paste, specifically for cast iron fireplace surrounds, grates etc. (In the past, a friend who dealt in cast iron fire surrounds always had them sandblasted and then treated with a product called “zebo”, although I don’t think this particular black paste is available any more. The Liberon iron paste is a substitute for it)
