James Bond 007 is created in 1952 from a fiction by Ian Fleming, featured in twelve novels, two anthologies, and a film series. After Fleming’s death in 1964, subsequent James Bond novels were written by Kingsley Amis, John Pearson, John Gardner and Raymond Benson. And the character of James Bond has been known by many people.

According to an unofficial statistics, there are at least 20 million audience have watched the 007 movies. Brosnan summed up the reason why the 007 series can endure so long. It is because there is a glamorous girl who has given the film a long-term vitality. This character is romantic, fantasy and an ultimate hero. The famous British cultural critic Conrad explained it like this” if you aspire to become an important person, you can think yourself as 007″.

The 007 series thrives on long sabbaticals. The six years between Licence to kill and Goldeneye reinvigorated the franchise, as did the four-year gap between Die Another Day and Casino Royale. Given a few more years off, there’s no reason why the next James Bond film shouldn’t manage to come back just as strongly. The films are officially originated from the purchase the film rights of James Bond.

Maybe we would not miss the James Bond films if they disappeared. Nobody would. Maybe we should just let the character die with dignity while he still can. As the character has interiorized in our deep heart, we will not forget the nice plots it ever gives us.
