Lithographed Tin

How to remove rust from an antique tin?
I have a 1913 – 1916 vintage mechanical tin lithograph bank. There are some rust spots that I would like to remove but without damaging the lithography paint. Any suggestions?
Your tin is probably made of thin sheet steel which has ben tin plated to prevent rust. The lithographs are applied after plating. To preserve the value of the piece, do nothing. If you try to remeve the rust you will destroy the original item. Antiques loose their value when people try to make them look like new.
I would recomend putting a coat of oil on the rust spors to prevent any further damage and not doing anything else. Keep the rust oiled and it will not spread.
