Monkey Toy

Monkey Toy
How many numder of Lion,Tiger & Monkey toys in bag(total numbers & values {in dollers} is 100)?

in the bag lion,tiger& monkey toys are there value of lion toy is 5.25 or 5&1/4 dollers.tiger is 2.5 or 2&1/2 dollers , monkey toys value is 0.25 or 1/4 dollers.condition is total number of toys in bag is 100.and total value of the toys is 100 dollers.

Seems like you have 3 unknowns, but only 2 equations, but I’ll give it a shot. Are you sure you didn’t leave out an equation?

L = number of lions, T = tigers, M = monkeys

With 100 toys, you know L + M + T = 100. This also means M = 100 – L – T

Value = 100, so 5.25L + 2.5T + 0.25M = 100, so 5.25L + 2.5T + .25(100 – L – T) = 100 so 5.25L + 2.5T + 25 – .25L – .25T = 100, so 5L + 2.25T = 75, therefore T = (75-5L)/2.25

One other fact – L, M & T are all whole numbers (no partial toys).

IGNORE PREVIOUS SOLUTION, I FOUND MY ERROR

There are two senarios that work (found by plugging numbers in).

L = 6, T = 20, M = 74
L = 15, T = 0, M = 85

If you have all three toys in bag, it has to be the first of the two solutions above (otherwise you have 0 tigers).
