When did food become more than just a novelty or toy to your baby?

If at all possible, I’d like to hear from baby led weaning moms also. We didn’t start solids until about 6 months.. he is 7 months and could care less about them. No, I’m not worried, just curious what your experiences are.
My son acts like everything feels and tastes disgusting. LOL Practically all he does is squish it in his hands and then throws it on the floor. We have given him baby food, but he hates it. He’d rather just chew on the spoon.

We did baby-led weaning, starting around six months. Everything was eagerly jammed into the mouth from the get-go, but it wasn’t until maybe eight months that really noticeable quantities were eaten — most of the broccoli rather than just nibbles of the leaves, etcetera.
