Why Outdoor Play Has Dramatically Changed

It hasn’t been such a long time since all parents where kids but so many things have happened in the meanwhile that have definitely changed the way we look toward our kids. The place where I was brought does not exist anymore by any mean, although it still has the same name and can be found in the very same geographic location.

First of all, the city has changed so much and has turned into an urban metropolis. One of my favourite game as a kid was tree climbing as my neighbourhood was full of olive trees that were ideal for competing with the other kids who would climb higher. There aren’t many trees left today unless you walk in the botanical gardens or visit a city park. Streets where so quite that we could even play football on the road or just chase each other all around.

Excitement was at each peak whenever we were entering one of those abandoned buildings in order to make new discoveries. Those mansions are long gone now, and the few ones left have been turned into museums. Playing with our bikes all around the place was risk free and very exciting but today it is a very dangerous activity that most parents do not recommend their kids.

Undoubtedly, the importance of outdoor play has remained the same throughout the centuries for all kids and there is not need for this generation to miss out. Especially during the summer, there are so many chances of enjoying the good weather and stay away from the game consoles. The ideal place is a garden or a terrace full of outdoor toys. Besides, you need to think of them too so they do not get bored while you are watching those football games, serving your friends from the beer chiller,hearing the cheerful voices of all those ecstatics fans out of the portable speakers.
