Hackysack/footbag question?

Hey, my friends are really good at hackysacking and i decided to buy my own and try it out. i have a sand one. and skateing shoes by etnies… are they any good? and how long does it normally take to get the basic moves down pretty good? i cant even hit it up right :/
and does the brand of hacky really have an affect? its just a bag with sand in it lol, mines a jester. it has 12 panels or w/e on the cloth. and its like a soft leathery material….

It can take quite a while. You dont learn to catch a ball on the first few throws. Just be sure to hit it with the side of your foot in about the middle. If it hits the edge of your shoe, it could go wild. Dont attempt to strike until you have a good grasp of sac handling. Some do play differently because they are made of a different material or are packed with beads, seeds, or some sand replacement. I have skate shoes and play with a sandbag myself. It s a lot harder to work with than bead hackey sacks.
