Horse Shed Plans – Yes, You Absolutely Need Them!

No matter how large or small you plan to build your shed or barn, horse shed plans should be the number one item on your list.  Once equipped with a good set of plans, your barn will be a guaranteed success.

Some folks, especially on smaller projects, think they will be able to draw their own horse barn plans or use free ones from the internet, and complete construction in a few weekends. While this is do-able if you have extensive woodworking experience, this will be very difficult for your average Joe or Jane.

Free plans found on the internet are usually a ploy to get you to purchase something else from the ‘plan givers’ website. They are usually thrown together and are not meant for actual construction.

Professional plans will cost you around $50, but will save you money in the long run. A side from being very easy to use, they come complete with two very important items, a materials list and cut sheet.

A materials list is exactly what it sounds like. A list of items needed to complete the shed, but this list is the key to saving money on your shed construction.

First, this list takes the guess work out of shopping for materials. You end up with the exact amount that you need with no waste. Second, you can take this list to multiple hardware stores or lumber yards for a cost estimate. Let the store know that you are comparing prices and a lot of times they will give you deep discounts!

The cut sheet will give you diagrams of how to cut your wood. This sheet will ensure that all of your lumber is used with very little waste material left over. With these two items in your arsenal, there’s no way that your project can fail.

Horse shed plans can be found in various different places online and in stores, but don’t pull out your cash just yet! Before purchasing shed plans, there are a few items to consider, such as ventilation, lighting, and flooring to name a few.
