My dog is treating her play toy like a puppy.?

Anyone ever had this happen? She is carrying it around very gently and curling up with it by her belly. If you touch it she will hide it from you. And she growls sometimes when you get close. Any ideas of what I should do?

It’s her security toy. My dog has one in particular that we call the “cry-baby toy”…she carries it around when she is tired or if her stomach hurts after eating. She won’t let go of it and gets very upset if you try to take it during these times. Just let her play with the toy, don’t taunt her of course, but do try to teach her she can’t growl at you if you need to take it away.
