Why is finding hair in the back of the car a major investigative point in the McCann case?

I have three small girls under the age of 6 and I am always finding their hair ‘in large quantities’ around my house. Children of that age have such fine hair which breaks so easily in some cases. In fact we justy purchased a new car a couple of weeks ago and my kids hair is already in the interior and yes even the boot, needless to say they have never climed into the boot as the car is a sadan with a seperate boot compartment but certainly their toys and my backpack have been placed there.

Because the care was rented AFTER the child went missing.
