How long/hard is it to change a timing gear?

Ok im not very smart when it comes to working on a motor, so about how long would it take and how hard is it to change a timing gear on a 1990 Nissan 300zx non turbo? My dad is the one who would probably do the work if its beyond me.

that might be for an advanced mechanic but just goto autozone and get the book tells you all youll need to know and read before you start for the tools you will need but i can do it in 3 to 4 hours do the belt and tensioner they have a whole kit i think its about 60 but i would also do a water pump it runs off the timing belt
