wards hercules april 20, 1915 mfg date 410 Double Barrel Shotgun?

Don’t know much about this gun. Heard it was a Steven’s gun. Could someone tell me about this gun and it’s worth. Father left it to me when he passed and for some reason, people are trying to buy it. What do I have and a possible range of it’s worth? Any info would be appreciated. thanks

Cross Reference shows it as a Savage Stevens 5100. Recent auction prices range from about $100 to $400 for some excellent older models. Expect yours is toward the lower end of that range.

Note the date is NOT the manufacture date, it’s the patent date…..could and likely is a lot newer, as they made this model for decades.

There is a premium for case colored receivers on older models. Since it’s a Ward’s store brand, it’s worth at least 25% less.

For the $150 you may get for it, I encourage you to keep it, as it was your father’s shotgun. Things like this you can never replace.
