Stroller Fiberglass
Plastic Seat?
Hi there;
I’m trying to design a plastic seat for a stroller, as part of my Master Final Work.
I must design the base and the backing of this seat… I’m thinking on designing two hollow pieces of 50mm (2″) with a 3mm (0.1″) thickness each… the question is:
1) what material must I use? PA+Fiberglass, PP, PE…
2) If I want these two pieces to be hollow, can it be done as a single piece each (like an inflatable beach ball) or , e.g., I must design the backing as two pieces that connect with each other?? Is Rotomolding able to do that?
hehe Bill
the truth is that I should have asked this questions to my materials teacher, but… my project is delayed and I’m trying to make it to the deadline next week… :-O I hope that if u people can give me some good solutions I can discuss them with my teacher next monday. Thanks!
Try using Styrofoam. Cut up pieces and glue them together to get what you want. Then use it as mold to make the whole piece of Styrofoam. There are kids car seats that are made from this method and then just covered with a fabric covering with some padding.
