Swingset Accessory
Anyone know if there are cheap metal swing sets that are taller or how to build a single swing out of lumber?
We want to give our only child a swingset, but she’s already 7. I wanted to get a cheap metal swingset commonly sold at the big box stores but it seems they are so darn small (short). Does anyone know if any store sells a metal swingset that’s taller than the norm? If not, maybe I should build one out of lumber? All I really want is the swing (no slide or other accessories), & we don’t have trees to make just a swing. Maybe I can just get some lumber & build a swing? But it seems stores sell plans for a whole big set.
The best way to go about this is to go on craigslist and look under your area under free. Keep an eye on it an one will show up before you know it. You can also post that you are looking for one. THat is what we did and we now have one. And it is metal, we repainted it and cleaned it up. Like you our son is 7 and what we did was added cement blocks on the bottom of the poles and wrapped them in a thick matting.
This raised the swingset by a foot, which has alloweed enough room to play on it, plus it is stable enough for us to climb on it without it moving and the matting is soft enough we won’t have any split heads.
It cost us the gas to pick it up. one hour to take it apart and take it home. Two hours to clean it up and set it up and $10 in supplies.
