What would a teddy bear represent to Edward Scissorhands?

I need to know what a teddy bear would bring to Edward Scissorhands. Why would it make him feel special?

I figured it would signify what Edward couldn’t have: because he’s so clumsy with his hands, he can’t be near anything comforting and soft (which is why he runs back to the castle in the end)
