Where The Boys Are

Everyone knows a wedding is HER big day.  Princess for a day, hope chests, something barrowed, something blue and all that stuff. But, let’s not forget that big ball of nerves standing beside her in the bowtie. Any groom worth his salt has been there with her every step of the way from cake tasting to flower arranging.

It’s time to let loose once all the RSVP’s come in and all the wedding details are planned out. So before you get dressed up in those monkey suits, it’s time to get down with some serious male bonding. Grab the guys in your wedding party and spend some quality time. It doesn’t have to be the clichéd Hollywood version of sowing wild oats, either. Here are some fun group activities to try.

Bowling
Sure, maybe you haven’t even been to a bowling alley since that PE field trip in junior high, but it’s like riding a bike.  Once you slip those rented shoes on it will all come back to you. Plus, you can be loud, rowdy and drink beer while you’re trying to pick up that 7-10 split.

Golfing
A little more upscale than the local lanes, most public courses don’t serve anything harder than an Arnie Palmer, but you can make up for it afterwards at your favorite 19th hole establishment.  Keep the game light and fun by dividing into teams and playing a mini best ball tournament.

Paintball
Get in touch with your inner Rambo. Guys and guns just go together, and don’t worry if you don’t have all the gear. You can rent most of the gear you need to play at most local paintball fields. Who knows, you and the groomsmen could like it so much you could become regular weekend warriors.

Poker Night
Stay at home and turn your house into a mini casino with themed accessories and rented game tables. Or, you can just play a good ole’ fashion game of poker with your friends. Mix in some munchies and your favorite beverages and it could be better than Vegas, baby.

Movie Night
Here’s an offer they can’t refuse. Beer, pizza, nachos and a whole bunch of manly movies like the entire Godfather Trilogy, Goodfellas, Scarface and Die Hard.  Of course the crown jewel of the evening should be Tom Hanks in Bachelor Party.

Out To The Ball Park
Start the busses, baby. Depending on the season chances are pretty good there’s a baseball, football, basketball or hockey game you can take in within a short drive. Leave early, stay late, tailgate it up and make a whole day of it.

No matter which activity you ultimately go with your two main objectives should be the same – be safe and have fun. When you asked your lovely bride-to-be for her hand in marriage you were in one piece.  Make sure you keep it that way. Enjoy the event as a celebration of YOUR big day, and a way to bond with lifelong friends.

Mike regularly writes for ProlificPaintball.com, they carry such paintball equipment as Paintball Guns and the Invert Mini, as well as many other items from a variety of 1arg3 manufacturers.
