Is sand from my sandbox/ the beach good for gerbil bedding?

I’m getting two gerbils soon, and I need to know which type of sand won’t irritate their respiratory system, etc. the sand from my sandbox is pretty coarse. I’m not buying sand from the pet store, and don’t suggest kitty litter. My plan is to fill 2 or 3 inches with sandbox/ beach sand, 3 or 4 inches of shredded paper towel and cardboard, and 1 inch of toilet paper at the top for nesting material. Experienced gerbil owners, vets, and other experts only. If anybody- ANYBODY- answers “idk, try it. ” or “just buy chinchilla sand” or “probably” i will report you. thanks

It has to be VERY fine and soft. Like an example is, when you place it on your hand and wipe it off, the sand will float in the air. Also it MUST be calcium based. I don’t suggest you use sandbox/beach sand. You are better off with a nice store bought bedding. I recommend Eco Bedding. My gerbils seem to LOVE it.
