Why does my ipod touch play videos at a much higher quality than my iphone 4?

The youtube videos on the ipod touch clearly have much better quality than when playing on the iphone 4. Any reason for this? Any way to make the iphone play higher quality as well?

Are these only youtube videos? Are these video files already downloaded or are you streaming them from Youtube? If streaming video on the iPhone (the one with the lower quality) are you connecting to the internet through a wifi connection or using the 3G? If 3G, try wifi and see if that helps.
