History

 

One of the earliest cartoon animation filmcreated in 1906 wasHumorous Phases of Funny Facesby newspaper cartoonist J. Stuart Blackton. It used the single frame method, and was projected at 20 frames per second. It was later followed by the first fully-animated film – Emile Cohl’s Fantasmagorie (1908, Fr.). Winsor McCay (1869-1934) was the first to establish the technical method of animating graphics. He used the popular characters from his comic strip using 4,000 hand-drawn frames to bring Little Nemo in Slumber land (1911), followed by How a Mosquito Operates (1912).
