Putting a turbo in a jet ski?

Puting a turbo in a yamaha wave raider 1995, where to get a turbo and is it possible to use universal turbo on a jet ski and also away to improve my jet skis steering there a delay in my turnings . thank you please HELP. if not possible if other ways to increase HP greatly.

sit down jet skis typically don’t get modified for performance like stand ups, due to the fact they are built with large engines to start with and weight isn’t a concern. you could look into snow mobile turbochargers, but would have to modify it for your ski. you could also try a supercharger, which is the preferred on jet skis since most people throttle around so much, they don’t want the turbo lag and want instantaneous response. As I said, unless a turbo/super charger was made for your ski specifically (doubtful), then you would have to modify and play around with one from some other vehicle.

As for steering, I don’t know why it would be delayed. Obviously, your steering ability relies on the amount of water flowing through your pump and being redirected to turn you, ie. the more throttle you give the faster you turn. For some jet skis, there are aftermarket steering pump nozzles, that are usually longer than stock so that the water gets turned to the side even more for a tighter turn radius. Your steering is from your handle bars with a cable to your pump nozzle. If you look on your pump nozzle, you have a ball joint that connects the steering cable. If you can move the ball closer to the nozzle, it will increase your steering ability (assuming you don’t have stops on the nozzle).

For HP increase, if your ski doesn’t seem to run very well; your throttle response isn’t fast (if it’s a 2-stroke), sometimes it stalls, doesn’t idle, etc. You may want to tune your carb, correctly tuned you will get a power increase (though it should be tuned already). You can also look around online and see if there are aftermarket impellers for your jet skis for a thrust increase.
