Ultimate Frisbee

How come Ultimate Frisbee isn’t under the sports categories list?
Ultimate Frisbee is played world-wide, and is the largest growing sport out there.
Word! Ultimate should be its own Sports subcategory in all aspects of sports discussions.
Unfortunately, when it comes to hard numbers, I don’t think the sport has the media visibility that would help get it on “the radar.” I’ve noticed that Outside Magazine periodically mentions Ultimate – even if it’s just as an aside in explaining sports nutrition or training.
I believe the UPA (Ultimate Players Association – governing body of the sport in the USA) has long been conflicted about its commitment to increasing the sports public profile. The issue gets intrinsically tied into issues of sponsorship and integrity of the sport. (ie., Jose Cuervo sponsorship of a tournament series in the 1990s included tweaking of the rules at these events to make them more “spectator friendly.”) This would be even more so, if the issue of television/commercial coverage is considered.
If the majority of the membership finds agreement on being willing to see the sport change based on the demands of sponsors, then I expect the public visibility of the sport will explode. This continues to evolve as the active membership changes generations. Call me a cynic, but I think the younger generation of Ultimate players are less beholden to the progressive leftie ideals of earlier generations.
