is it legal for cops in the USA to make suspects confess by hitting them?

i have read about cases that some suspects are abuse during interrogation. they take them to a room where there is no camera and start beating them to make them talk. is that legal?

That only happens in bad movies.

In reality, cops wouldn’t beat someone for a confession. They know the confession would be thrown out, the officers fired and possibly charged with assault themselves.

Instead, the police are trained in psychological methods to get people to talk.
