Is the Squier SP-10 Amplifier compatible with a bass guitar?

I just got a bass, and it doesn’t play well when I use it with my old amplifier, version stated above. It plays, no question, but not unless you have the bass and treble up all the way, with clean off, and at full volume, so the sound’s terrible, sounds like an airplane taking off. I’m really worried if the bass or the amp is off, so I want to know if the amp is generally electric lead guitar only, not bass. The guitar is a Vintage brand, i think its an IB version if that helps. any advice, anyone?

No, that amplifier was really made for a guitar and NOT bass. If you continue to play it through that amplifier you could eventually damage the speaker. The reason why is because the guitar strings vibrate in a range of from 82.40 Hz to 2.64 kHz and the bass has a frequency range of 41.2 Hz to 587 Hz. Those lower frequencies are probably not handled very well by that 5″ speaker found in that SP-10 amplifier. I was unable to find a specifications sheet for that amplifier but, if you have spec sheet you can check to see if it’s compatible with bass frequencies. But, I seriously doubt that it is. If you are still learning to play the bass, you probably don’t really need a bass amplifier yet. What you do need is a way to listen to your electric bass that sounds really good. If you intend to play in a band, then you will need at least a 150 watt amplifier for a bass and the most reasonably priced on that I know of which also sound really good, is the Behringer ULTRABASS – http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer-Ultrabass-BXL1800-180W-1×12–Bass-Combo-104781802-i1166248.gc – The BOSS ME-20B will for just fine with any bass amplifier to make you sound great on stage.
