Vintage Magic

magic the gathering question pls!!!?
hi, id like to ask the MTG universe as to what combo deck out of the ones listed below is the best in their opinion. when you tell me, could you please explain as to why you think it is the best combo. thanks!!!
these are all vintage decks that im referring to:
hulk flash
dragon combo (worldgorger)
storm
ad nauseam
bomberman
thanks !!!
I think that storm combo is probably the best choice (either with or without Ad Nauseam–the Ad Nauseam deck is just a variant on the storm deck).
Here’s a breakdown of the other decks and why I think they aren’t optimal:
—
To win with Hulk Flash, you need to:
1) Find Flash
2) Find Protean Hulk
3) Resolve Flash.
This used to be feasible before Flash was restricted, but now Hulk Flash isn’t competitive. If you’re going to play a deck that absolutely requires finding and resolving a specific restricted card in order to win, then you’d be better of just having that card be Tinker. Then you don’t have to worry about finding anything else.
I wouldn’t recommend Flash in the current environment.
—
To win with Dragon Combo, you need to:
1) Find Worldgorger Dragon and get it in your graveyard
2) Find Animate Dead
3) Resolve Animate Dead
4) Find a way to win the game
5) Resolve that way to win the game
That’s an awful lot of things that have to come together in order to win the game. Dragon is perhaps slightly better now that Entomb is unrestricted, but a lot of things still have to come together in order for you to win. You’re going to have to use a lot of your deck spots for cards that are “bad” in the abstract (like Entomb), and that’s going to decrease the consistency of your deck because you’ll have a lot of dead draws.
I wouldn’t recommend Dragon in the current environment.
—
To win with Bomberman, you need to:
1) Find Auriok Salvagers
2) Find Black Lotus
3) Find a spellbomb
4) Resolve Auriok Salvagers
This time your kill requires finding three different cards, one of which is restricted, and two of which are terrible outside of the combo itself. Bomberman is cool, sure, but there are more efficient ways to win the game in Vintage.
—
Storm has several advantages over any of these:
1) You only need to find one specific card to win the game (probably Tendrils of Agony or Empty the Warrens).
2) You don’t have to run any cards that are useless in multiples (in Flash, a second Protean Hulk is useless; in Dragon, a second Dragon is useless; in Bomberman, a second Salvagers is useless; etc.) This will make your deck more consistent, because you won’t have any “dead” draws unless you get mana flooded.
3) Storm is much harder to defend against, because if you play it well, it is harder for your opponent to decide what to counter–and your opponent can’t counter your winning spell with Force of Will or Mana Drain.
Really, Storm is better because it’s a one-card combo (resolving any of Necropotence, Mind’s Desire, Yawgmoth’s Will, or Yawgmoth’s Bargain wins the game due to the way the deck is designed; playing nine spells and finding Tendrils of Agony is usually just a formality). Obviously, it’s easier to consistently get access to one card than it is two (Flash and Protean Hulk) or three (Auriok Salvagers, Black Lotus, and a spellbomb).
Whether or not you run Ad Nauseam in a storm deck is a matter of personal preference. Personally, I don’t think Ad Nauseam is necessary. Yes, it will probably win you the game if you resolve it, but so will Necropotence, Yawgmoth’s Will, Yawgmoth’s Bargain, Mind’s Desire, etc., and these other cards win more consistently than Ad Nauseam does. Ad Nauseam really isn’t necessary to win–storm decks aren’t really hurting for more “I win” cards. Instead they need ways to find those cards, get enough mana, and resolve them.
—
Flash, Dragon, and Bomberman just aren’t doing well in tournaments these days. Storm does well sometimes, and Storm with Ad Nauseam does well occasionally.

Well, when an emcee gets to rifle through 50 Cent’s Rolodex to handpick top-flight producers (Timbaland, Just Blaze, Kanye West), it’s a can’t-miss scheme, right? In this case, uh-huh. “Westside Story” is Game’s opportunity to remind crunk-come-latelys th… |
