What color of granite countertops with white cabinets and gray floor tile?

We just bought a 1965 vintage house and the kitchen has white cabinets in great shape and we are planning to repaint them Sherwin Williams Bright White. The floor tile is a light to medium gray ceramic tile so here is the question. After almost resulting in a fist fight over the color of the countertops I am here in order to avoid physical injury. What color of granite will work best with this setup. By the way the appliances are a mixture of stainless steel and black.

I think you should go with a black or dark countertop. It will provide a contrast between your white cabinets and gray floor. This scheme is flexible and can basically match whatever wall color you choose.
