Why is Darth Vader from Star Wars so popular?

Why is he the most popular badasses of all time? There’s Hitler anyway

Vader is a big, powerful villain with dark, gruesome armor, an intimidating voice and chilling respiration. He also has a cool weapon, gets to wear a cape without looking like a fruit, can choke you with a thought and gets to fly around in space.
Hitler was a pasty white guy with bad hair and a bad mustache. He was also a meth addict.
Oh, it may have something also to do with the fact that Vader is a fictional boogieman and Hitler is actually responsible for the biggest conflict of the 20th Century and the attempted genocide of the Jews and others.
Make believe evil can be cool. Real evil leaves a bad taste in lots of mouths.
