old wooden wagon with
rusted wheels
laden with too heavy a load
well served its master
for decades

this is powerful write.. because it invokes many metaphors.. each metaphor evokes many images.. images being found in every-day life or tossed from novels and history books. your poem reader.. picks the image nearer to his feelings.. and relate. me will speak of one :

old>> have had its share from life.
wooden>> element of nature has limited life span..fragile, dry, wrinkled
wagon>> human body as [its bones/flesh/skin] been described.
line3: bearing a heavy-load from serving his master.. and each of us is slave to some master particularly children. also money, privilege, social status.
until the day he gets then inevitable message[toll] when he can’t serve his master any more, betrayed by his own body.. the fragile [wooden] bones.. and rusted [knees and joints] and the image goes ending up in old folks house.. abandoned by those whom he served as masters [ his children] like throwing old [ not modern] wooden wagon into a grave yard.
